Au Revoir for Now
This trip to France is a gift — to myself, to my family, and most of all to my mom, who is turning 80 this year. She wants to ride horses through the countryside, take long self-guided walks through villages she has always dreamed of visiting, and do a little shopping. We are going to do exactly that, and I could not be more excited to celebrate her this way.
Living in Westchester as a Young Family: A Designer’s Guide to Homes, Style, and Everyday Luxury
For many young families leaving New York City, Westchester offers something incredibly appealing: more space, access to nature, and the opportunity to create a home that truly supports daily life.
If you’re moving to Westchester or updating your home, here’s how to think about design in a way that reflects both lifestyle and longevity.
Elevating the Everyday: Transforming Builder-Grade Condos
A recent Wall Street Journal article highlighted something we see often in our work. In an effort to manage rising costs, developers are simplifying finishes. Cabinets are lighter, countertops thinner, details more minimal, and in many cases, the spaces feel just a bit unfinished.
While that can feel disappointing at first, we see it differently - it’s an opportunity.
Layering a Room Like an Outfit: Texture, Structure, and Statement Pieces
One of the easiest ways to understand how a room comes together is to think about how you get dressed.
A great outfit is never just one thing. It’s a combination of structure, texture, and a few thoughtful statements that make it feel personal and complete. The same is true in interior design.
A Spring Break in Colorado: How Travel Continues to Shape My Approach to Design
This past couple weeks, I stepped away from projects, drawings, and client meetings and headed to Colorado with my family. What I didn’t expect was just how much the experience would reinforce the way I think about designing homes.
Meet Pickles: A Puppy, a Reality Check, and a Design Lesson
I’ve designed for families with kids and pets for years. I talk often about livability, durability, and real life. But there is something about living with a puppy in real time—mid-accident, paper towels in hand—that gives you a whole new level of empathy.
A Little Sunshine on the Horizon: Heading to Palm Beach
At this point in winter, I don’t need to explain why I’m counting down the days to Palm Beach. The gray skies, heavy coats, and short days start to wear on me this time of year, and I find myself craving warmth, color, and that unmistakable feeling of ease that comes with being somewhere sun-drenched. Palm Beach feels like exactly the reset I need.
The Beauty Is in the Details: Designing and Installing Custom Tile with Intention
When clients ask what truly elevates a home from beautiful to exceptional, my answer is always the same: the details. Custom materials—especially tile—have the power to transform a space, but only when they’re designed and installed with intention.
The Magic of a Ski Lodge (and Why It Never Gets Old)
As a designer, ski lodges hit all of my senses. And this winter, staying at Urban Cowboy Lodge, I felt that familiar spark—the one that reminds me why certain spaces feel timeless, comforting, and quietly magical.
How to Layer Pieces Effectively as the Colder Season Approaches
As the temperature dips and the days shorten, layering becomes an art form—not only in your wardrobe but throughout your home. The best spaces (and outfits) for fall and winter feel collected, textured, and intentional.
Layering effectively is about adding depth and warmth without creating clutter or chaos. Here’s how to do it well.
What My Kids Have Taught Me About Interior Design
When I started designing homes, I believed good design was all about control — a perfectly balanced palette, a tidy vignette, every pillow fluffed just so. Then I had kids. And everything — the schedule, the priorities, the floor plan — changed.
What surprised me most wasn’t how much my kids challenged my sense of order, but how much they taught me about design. They gave me a new way to see what home really means.
Here’s what I’ve learned from them.
Preparing the Playroom for the Holidays
As the holidays approach, our homes start to hum with energy — twinkle lights, gift wrap, and that familiar mix of excitement and chaos that comes with little ones counting down the days.
Prepping the playroom isn’t just about finding storage — it’s about creating space for joy, imagination, and a bit of calm amid the holiday magic.
Here’s how I approach it each season:
How to Prepare Your Home for Guests and the Holidays
As the days grow shorter and the calendar fills with celebrations, our homes become the stage for gathering, reconnecting, and creating new memories. Preparing your home for guests—and for the holidays themselves—isn’t about perfection. It’s about hospitality, comfort, and those subtle details that make people feel immediately at ease.
Here’s how to thoughtfully ready your home for the season ahead.
A Thoughtfully-Modern Thanksgiving Tablescape (That Feels Like You)
Thanksgiving is a mood as much as a meal. Your table should welcome people to linger—beautiful, unfussy, and quietly luxurious. Here’s our go-to guide for setting a polished, personal table without the stress.
Bright, Bold, and Beautiful: The Lilly Pulitzer Archive at 200 Lexington
I recently had the pleasure of exploring the Lilly Pulitzer archive on display at 200 Lexington, and I can’t stop thinking about how much it inspires interior design. For anyone who knows my work, you know I’m drawn to color, pattern, and personality, and stepping into this archive was like walking into a master class on both.
Savoring Summer, Welcoming Fall
As the last golden days of summer stretch out before us, there’s a certain sweetness in the air — a mix of sun-soaked memories, lingering evenings, and the gentle pull of what comes next. This time of year always feels like a threshold: one foot still in flip-flops and sundresses, the other stepping toward the structure and rhythm of fall.
Design Notes from the Island: Inspiration from Edgartown, Chappy, and Nantucket
Every summer, I try to step away from the day-to-day and head to the island with my family. We’ve just wrapped up a few wonderful weeks spent on Chappaquiddick (or "Chappy" if you know, you know), tucked just off the coast of Edgartown, with a little time in Nantucket sprinkled in for good measure.
I worked remotely while soaking up the salty air, sharing sun-drenched afternoons with my family, laughing with mom friends who made the trek, and enjoying a dreamy overnight visit with a friend in Sconset.
But let’s be honest—once a designer, always a designer. And I couldn’t help but bring home a camera roll full of inspiration and a head full of ideas.
Designing for the Everyday: The Case for “Beautiful Practical”
We believe in beautiful homes—but not the kind that ask you to live around them. Life is inherently messy: kids spill, dogs nap where they shouldn’t, shoes pile up, and the good throw blanket becomes a fort.
And yet, your home shouldn’t feel like it’s constantly in crisis. That’s where we lean into what we call “beautiful practical”—a design philosophy that blends elevated aesthetics with everyday durability. It’s not about compromise. It’s about designing smart, with heart.
Here’s how we help clients create spaces that are both stunning and livable—one decision at a time.
