A Little Sunshine on the Horizon: Heading to Palm Beach

At this point in winter, I don’t need to explain why I’m counting down the days to Palm Beach. The gray skies, heavy coats, and short days start to wear on me this time of year, and I find myself craving warmth, color, and that unmistakable feeling of ease that comes with being somewhere sun-drenched. Palm Beach feels like exactly the reset I need.

Beyond the obvious appeal of warm weather and ocean air, this trip is very much a working one—and honestly, some of my favorite creative work happens when I’m traveling.

Why Palm Beach?

Palm Beach has a way of reminding you that design can be joyful. The colors are confident, the patterns are playful, and nothing feels overly precious. It’s a place where pinks, greens, and blues coexist effortlessly; where traditional architecture meets relaxed, lived-in elegance. It’s inspiring without trying too hard—and that’s something I’m always chasing in my work.

After months of winter palettes and heavy textures, I’m looking forward to being surrounded by:

  • sun-washed colors

  • natural materials

  • layered patterns

  • interiors that feel both polished and completely livable

Working While Wandering

While I’m there, I’ll be doing what I always do when I travel: gathering inspiration. That means visiting shops, walking through neighborhoods, studying proportions, colors, and details that you don’t fully appreciate unless you’re experiencing them in person.

I’ll be paying attention to:

  • how spaces transition seamlessly from indoors to outdoors

  • how color is used confidently but thoughtfully

  • the balance between classic and fresh

  • textures that feel breezy but still substantial

I often come home from trips like this with ideas that quietly weave their way into future projects—sometimes in obvious ways, sometimes in subtler ones. Travel has a way of sharpening my eye and reminding me to stay curious.

A Creative Reset

Warm weather does something to my brain. It slows me down in the best way and opens me up creatively. I find I think more clearly, notice more, and feel more inspired to take thoughtful risks—whether that’s introducing a new color combination, leaning into pattern, or finding a way to make a space feel lighter and more joyful.

Palm Beach is a reminder that interiors don’t have to be serious to be beautiful. They can be layered, expressive, and fun—and still feel timeless.

I can’t wait to soak it all in, gather ideas, and bring a little bit of that sunshine back with me.

More to come soon—especially if I stumble upon anything too good not to share.

xo,
Kelsey
