Team Peterson in Bhutan
I went to Bhutan without many expectations—just a deep craving for time with my 81-year-old dad and my older brother. I wanted the conversations that happen only when you hike side by side, unhurried. It’s the first trip in 14 years that it’s been just the three of us. Growing up, that was our rhythm: pick a far-flung place, go as “Team Peterson,” make memories.
Preparing for Bhutan: Practical Steps & Inspired Mindset
As September draws to a close, I’ll be boarding a flight to a place that has long lived in my imagination: Bhutan. Known as the Land of the Thunder Dragon, Bhutan is a country where monasteries cling to cliffsides, prayer flags ripple in the wind, and time seems to slow into a rhythm of mindfulness and beauty.
This trip will be a personal adventure and a creative reset, but as any small business owner knows, stepping away requires both careful planning and intentional presence.
Design Notes from the Island: Inspiration from Edgartown, Chappy, and Nantucket
Every summer, I try to step away from the day-to-day and head to the island with my family. We’ve just wrapped up a few wonderful weeks spent on Chappaquiddick (or "Chappy" if you know, you know), tucked just off the coast of Edgartown, with a little time in Nantucket sprinkled in for good measure.
I worked remotely while soaking up the salty air, sharing sun-drenched afternoons with my family, laughing with mom friends who made the trek, and enjoying a dreamy overnight visit with a friend in Sconset.
But let’s be honest—once a designer, always a designer. And I couldn’t help but bring home a camera roll full of inspiration and a head full of ideas.
Spring Break Adventure: Exploring Europe Through a Child’s Eyes
This year for Spring Break, my husband and I are taking our two kids, Henry (6) and Edie (3), on an adventure to some of Europe’s most iconic cities. The inspiration? Their growing curiosity about the world—fueled by their school lessons and one of their favorite books, Richard Scarry’s Busy, Busy World.
