For this NYC-based family who spends their summers in Southampton, we created a collected, layered retreat that feels as relaxed as the season itself.
The open concept main living area centers around a vaulted shiplap ceiling, with a sofa and chairs dressed in a soft blue block print floral that anchors the space in classic coastal style. Layers of pattern, from a graphic Jacobean floral pillow to a cheerful blue and white striped dining chair, were mixed with intention to create depth without feeling overdone. A coral console table adds an unexpected pop of color and personality against the home's soft white beadboard walls. Custom built-ins with navy-backed shelving display the family's collection of blue and white ceramics, while a pair of woven rattan chairs with ikat pillows bring texture and warmth to the seating area. In the powder room, a playful chinoiserie wallpaper and an antiqued gold mirror create a moment of glamour. Hand-thrown ceramic artichoke bowls and fresh greenery add organic charm throughout. The clients wanted a mix of well priced, well made pieces alongside a few special, elevated finds, and the result is a home that feels easy, bright, and full of personality, perfect for long summer days with the kids home from camp.
